A RITUAL OF POPOKAN TO CELEBRATE THE HARVEST DAY

TO CELEBRATE THE HARVEST DAY. THE LOCAL CITIZEN OF SENDANG VILLAGE. IN BERINGIN SUBDISTRICT. THE REGENCY OF SEMARANG. HAVE CONDUCT A RITUAL OF POPOKAN. TO GRATITUDE FOR GOD'S BLESSINGS, NEVERTHELESS. THIS RITUAL HAS LEAD QUARRELSOME. WHEN ALL CITIZEN ARE KEEN TO TAKE PART
 
The ritual has happened since 11 o’clock in the morning. Is coincides with the presence of the village birthday based on java calendar of Sendang in Beringin subdistrict. The Regency of Semarang, this ceremony begins with the procession. Which takes place in the corner of the village into the other part of the village borders on the other village,

Before the top of the event begins. The local people. Are also perform the traditional javanesse horse dance. So-called “jaran kepang”, yet. The players. Which are possessed by the spirits. Then start to fight each other, not only. Between the players. But also the audience who get involved in this event. Have become the target of its madness. Fortunetely, the magic wizard has suceded to control them to avoid the larger impact.

After all of the folk arts are finished. Finally, the event will continue by the procession of a tiger replica acrosses the field, at the same time this tiger arrives. All the villagers throw a handful of mud. As the reflection of their effort to expel the tiger. In order to continue the celebration of harvest day, everyone who receives the throw of a handful of mud shouldn’t get angry and allow to response against them.

The ritual which has been inheritance of this local people. Is belief to be the blessing of the farmers succesfull within the harvest day.
